About WEMA

Training philosophy

Most people think training's sole purpose is to get their dream body. Why not? However, my philosophy is to train for a healthy mind, spirit, and body. The trifecta!

Whether physical, emotional, or mental, our challenges are numerous. Why not perform training that allows us to conquer our difficulties holistically?

Furthermore, I believe that health-focused Fitness is the greatest form of self-care and an excellent way to practice self-efficacy.

Ultimately, consistency and discipline lead to a rewarding life. My speciality is helping people commit to a training blueprint that makes them stronger, more confident and alive!

Be brave! Step into your greatness!

Who am I?

Although I was born in Montreal, I had the opportunity to live in Haiti for nine years afterwards. Over there, I've enjoyed practising Soccer and Tae Kwon Do! Coming back to Canada, I discovered Basketball and Football. My life changed forever! These sports were great, but the training culture around them got me burning! Visualize a ten-year-old child doing push-ups, sit-ups, and seated leg curls with yellow pages placed on his shins. Yes, that was me! All of that was in the living room of our one-bedroom apartment at the time. My mother was so happy!

Eventually, committing to healthy life habits and training early allowed me to rise as one of the best football athletes in my province. At 19 years of age, I left my hometown to play football for the best team in the nation at the university level: The Laval Rouge et Or. It wasn't easy!

At 19 years of age, I also smoked marijuana and tobacco for the first time. Although I was never a big party person, my seasonal consumption of these substances diminished my energy. I started relying on chewing tobacco and cannabis to cope with my life challenges. Nonetheless, I graduated with a Bachelor of Business and was selected as the 14th overall pick in the 2014 Canadian Football League's draft at 23 years old.

My journey in the pros wasn't all roses, let me tell you! Broken bones, ligament tears, concussions, you name it. One more thing! Seasonal consumption of the substances mentioned above. After five tough years, I finally retire from my unfulfilling football career and move away from the unhealthy lifestyle habits that came with it. It was time to go back to the source: Health!

I maintained good fitness and started to work as a football coach at the University of British Columbia and as a youth worker with disadvantaged youth dealing with trauma and addiction. I volunteered as a youth mentor at the Urban Native Youth Association and as a Board Member (secretary) for the Canadian Haitian Cultural Association of British Columbia. I also studied acting and booked a couple of gigs in theatre.

Despite enjoying my new life path, I knew something was missing. I needed to share with others the benefits and joys of self-care through Fitness. That was the ultimate piece of the puzzle!

Now, I am a certified personal trainer who works with a diverse range of clients, a writer, and a speaker for my other company called WEMA Management Inc. (Wema means Virtue in my wife's native tongue: Swahili). I also teach general physical preparedness boot camps for adolescents and coach strength and conditioning to basketball athletes under 17.

My mission is to motivate you to get fit and stick to healthy life habits that will empower you to cultivate love and happiness in your daily environment! All I need is your commitment to the safe, effective, and reliable workout plans that I build for you. Are you Ready?
